We just got our internet turned on but our network is still not connected due to the fact that we've had just so much to do!

In a nutshell: we packed our 4 bdrm. apt. put it in a moving truck, flew to Houston the next day with a 2-year-old and a cat, rented a car, signed an apartment lease all on the same day, then 2 days later I took my mom to he second chemo treatment. The following week Rich had a job interview, we bought furniture, Rich got a job offer and contract (yay!) and then we bought a car. Whew.

Mom started radiation three days after her chemo and tests show that the chemo shrank 3 of her tumors! Hope, hope, hope.

About two weeks ago, our moving truck got here and we unloaded 200+ boxes and a little bit of furniture. Well, I didn't unload but I watched Avalon and directed things ... still ... it was stressful.

Needless to say, the unpacking process is ongoing and seemingly never-ending.

Rich started his job 4 days ago and Avalon started her daycare. Both of them of them love their new positions. As for me, I got called for a job interview (college teaching position) last week and had a great interview, but don't know if I made the finalist cut or not. Hopefully, I'll hear something soon. If not, I'm planning on applying for a research position at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Currently, I'm revising Section 1 of my dissertation and my goal is to have it finished by tomorrow night. Once that's sent off, then I'll update the blog with more personal items and catch up on reading everyone else's blog. Wish me luck!

Welcome to my blog!

Well, this blog has been a long time coming. I have my own website (which is down now for a major overhaul) and I've had various blogs and websites to promote causes (like saving a cat someone threw off a building) ... but finally I have a blog that is my own personal blog!

I want to use this site to discuss issues related to ethnobotany and all that it may encompass. Sometimes I might be quite specific, discussing issues or events that directly relate to the people I have worked with or I might just decide to delve into issues that arise on the other side of the world. Or, sometimes I might want to just explore some ideas and I'll use this blog to write out my thoughts. Pretty much, whatever I feel like writing about when it comes to ethnobotany, and especially medicinal plants. Feel free to post comments as you please and I would be very, very interested in meeting other like-minded people who may, or may not, have similar interests.

Welcome to the Ethnobotany in Action blog!
